About Us

LSTI, Life Sciences Technologies International, LLC, is a life sciences and biotechnology company focused on the development of products combining nutrients with functional food molecules created within natural plants and herbs. These nutritional supplements are produced using proprietary blend and extraction procedures and are over-the-counter nutraceuticals to provide health benefits.

The Scientific Team

The LSTI scientific team is comprised of experienced medical doctors and research scientists who work in collaboration on the development of Complementary and Alternative Natural Products (CANP) for the wellness of human health.

Our scientific process includes:

  • formulating functional, nutritional food supplements and
  • verifying products by conducting clinical studies to support their efficacies without side effects and for patent protection.

Our Scientific Team

A. Kenneth Olson, M.D. , Ph.D.

President, LSTI

A. Kenneth Olson, M.D., Ph.D. graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois with a major in Psychology. He obtained a M.D. from the University of Louisville, Kentucky and a M.S. in Physiology from the University of Louisville Graduate School at the same time.

He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, and thereafter became an associate consultant in the Division of Preventive Medicine and was an instructor in the Mayo School of Medicine as well.  Thereafter, he spent seven years in the practice of general internal medicine in Muskegan, Michigan.

He then completed a fellowship in clinical nutrition in the Department of Nutrition Sciences at the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) while also completing a Ph.D. in nutritional sciences from the UAB Graduate School.  He has taught for a number of years as an adjunct assistant professor in clinical nutrition in the UAB School of Medicine while building a consulting practice in nutritional medicine at the Baptist Medical Centers, Birmingham, Alabama.

He is a member and a fellow of the American College of Nutrition, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Jefferson County Medical Society.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Certified Specialist in Clinical Nutrition by the American Board of Nutrition. He is a cofounder and previous medical director for Magnolia Creek Residential Treatment Center for Eating Disorders, now known as Magnolia Creek Residential Treatment Center for Women.

Dr. Olson has an established clinical practice in nutritional medicine and internal medicine.  His work focuses on diagnosis, treatment, and the reversal of malnutrition.  Malnutrition is caused by the presence of another disease state and results in significant loss of the functional and performance status of all organ systems of the body and may even lead to death.

Awarded a prestigious Colombo Plan Scholarship for his PhD at the University of London, England, Dr. Khaled trained in the field of Structure Activity Relationships (SAR) of Biomolecules. He then served as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics. Currently, Dr. Khaled is a professor of nutrition sciences.

His anti-cancer drug development at UAB was awarded a U.S. patent (#4,820,706) in 1989. A recent U.S. patent (# 7,335,384) was awarded to such products for the relief of pain in humans, particularly for migraine and arthritis. In addition, Dr. Khaled has conducted extensive research in the area of diabetes and pre-diabetes.

Born and raised in India, Mohammad Khaled, Ph.D., became acquainted with various herbal and Ayurvedic, whole-body medicines in terms of their use and mechanisms of action. Dr. Khaled has made it his life’s work to develop scientifically nutritional, natural, herbal products for better human health.

Norman D. Huggins, M.D.

Board Member, LSTI

For 25 years, Norman D. Huggins, M.D., served as Medical Director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Substance Abuse Programs Methadone Clinic, which provides outpatient and partial hospitalization/day treatment care.  He is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the UAB Medical Center.

Opioid drug abusers tend to have a history of making poor health and diet decisions, which causes digestive complications and ill health. Dr. Huggins has conducted extensive research and development in efficacious natural products to aid in this area of need.

Dr. Huggins is a board certified psychiatrist licensed to practice medicine in Alabama and Ohio, and is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is a graduate of the UAB School of Medicine, and conducted his medical internship at Case Western Reserve University.
